Wanti Amelia (b. 1998) is a talented young artist from Bandung, Indonesia, known for her evocative paintings that abstractly represent life through the form of ocean waves. She received her formal art education from the Indonesia Institute of Cultural Arts in Bandung, graduating in 2021. Since then, she has pursued a career as an artist, actively participating in exhibitions in Indonesia and Singapore. Amelia grew up in Pangandaran, a coastal town in West Java, which profoundly influenced her artistic work. Despite her fear of the ocean, shaped by memories of devastating tsunamis, including a major one in 2016 that claimed hundreds of lives, she channels her emotions into her art. The ocean, with its relentless waves, symbolizes her inner turmoil and meditative process. Through her paintings, Amelia transforms her fear into beautiful, meaningful art, continually evolving her passion into a significant part of her life.
