I Nyoman Darya (b. 1974) is a respected and seasoned visual artist who is passionate not only about his own art career but also about nurturing the growth of the art scene in Indonesia through his art space, IndieArt House in Yogyakarta. An artist with many accolades, including finalist of the Philip Morris Indonesian Art Award (1999) and finalist of the IndoFood Art Award (2001), Darya continues to stay atop with artworks featuring whimsical creatures and avatars which vividly intertwine messages about contemporary cultural identity, lineage, and circumstances in such an endearing manner. Darya represents the embodiment of Bali in a new-fangled discourse.
